Magic Castle

The Magic Castle is a Christmas song released by Dong Bang Shin Ki (TVXQ), a Korean K-Pop/J-Pop male duo (formerly five-member group). Dong Bang Shin Ki included it on their Christmas mini-album, The Christmas Gift from Dong Bang Shin Ki. The song was also a cover of a Korean five-member male group The Classic's 1994 "Magic Castle”, the only Korean cover of the mini- album and a music video was produced for it. The Classic’s 1994 album was big hit. Since then, the song has been featured in many TV dramas, movies and open concerts in Korea. The music and lyrics of The Magic Castle were written by Kwang Jin Kim.

Lyrics:

(Translation in English)

Can you believe that in my dreams,
you are a princess that's fallen inside magic?
Even though my gestures towards you are always so hard for me.

However, it's always just a hard promise
that I'm going to save you again, no mater what.
I put my two hands together and prayed, for endless courage and wisdom.

Past the magic castle and over the swamps, I see you far away inside darkness' cave. Now hold onto my hand.
Can't you feel our bodies rising?

Even if we fly high up into the sky, freely, don't be scared.
The world unraveling in front of us can be so special if we're together.

Past the magic castle and over the swamps, I see you far away inside darkness' cave. Now hold onto my hand.
Can't you feel our bodies rising?

Even if we fly high up into the sky, freely, don't be scared.
The world unraveling in front of us can be so special if we're together.

Ever so free, across the sky,
we'll soar the universe, just you and me!

Don't be afraid, I'd give the world for you,
there's nothing more precious than to be with you.

In March, 2016, Gideon Gee-Bum Kim arranged the song for soprano, tenor, flute, clarinet, and piano for the Toronto Messiaen Ensemble’s “The Aroma of France and Korea” project that celebrates the 130th anniversary of the diplomatic relationship between France and Korea. In December, 2016, the piece was instrumented again for soprano, tenor, chorus, flute, clarinet, violin, viola, cello and piano for the Yemel Philharmonic Society's "Wisdom in Folk and Popular Music" concert.
