Three Forbidden Dances:

Three Forbidden Dances is a piece that may evoke dynamic motions and spiritual awakening. It was written in 2019 and consists of three short dance-like movements.

The motive of the first movement which is appeared in the first five bars was composed in 2007 and totally slept on my MacBook for 12 years. Then it was accidentally found when I opened the folder named “unfinished” on the MacBook in Spring 2019. These five bars intrigued me to compose a dance piece. The words written in the Gospel of Luke, Chapter 7, Verses 31~32 spontaneously came to my mind because I thought that the motive had been unrevealed until my eyes were opened to understand the Truth of Jesus Christ. I immediately started to write the piece using those five bars without any changes and completed the whole work within four days. The second movement is a joyful and mysterious waltz. The entire progresses of the waltz are in rubato that creates more live and imaginative mood. The third movement is a passionate dance in very fast tempo. This final one progresses in the primitivism as a symbol of the purity of the testimony of Jesus, and a perpetual motion as a symbol of the eternity of the testimony of Jesus, the spirit of prophesy.

The movements carry individual titles: “Unrevealed Dance”, “The Testified Waltz”, and “Dance Of The Testimony of Jesus”, inspired by the following words of the New Testament .

I. Unrevealed Dance: Inspired by Luke 7:31~32
II. The Testified Waltz: Inspired by Hebrews 11:4
III. Dance Of The Testimony of Jesus: Inspired by Revelation 19:10
