Jimin Shin (violin/viola)

Profile

Violinist/Violist Jimin Shin started her musical studies at the age of six at Le Conservatoire de la Ville de Luxembourg with leading Luxembourgian violinist Vania Lecuit. She then brought her studies back to her native country Korea for a short period, where she worked with teachers Sung Eun Cho and Won Ran Kim. At age 10, her family immigrated to Toronto, Canada and Jimin met her musical mentor and teacher Erika Raum, with whom she blossomed for seven years during which she was enrolled in the Young Artist Performance Academy at the Royal Conservatory of Music and also a leading member and the winner of the Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra Concerto Competition which subsequently won her the opportunity to solo with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra at Roy Thompson Hall. Since then, Ms. Shin had studied at the Cleveland Institute of Music with Joel Smirnoff and David Updegraff, and back in Toronto at the the Glenn Gould School with Marie Berard on violin and Steve Dann on viola. Over the years she has accumulated a special love/passion for chamber music and Early Music.
