TME CALL FOR SCORES

The Toronto Messiaen Ensemble (TME), in collaboration with the Canadian Music Centre, invite submissions of scores to be included in the 2019-2020 season. Up to four composers will be selected. Selected scores will be performed on Saturday, May 23, 2020 at the CMC in Toronto. There is no fee to apply.

Deadline: May 13, 2019 (11:59 pm PST)

Criteria: Pieces may have been previously performed.
Maximum duration is 12 minutes
All compositional styles are welcome
Electronics are not permitted
Applicants may submit only one work for consideration

Instrumentation:
Pieces can be written for the full ensemble, or a subset. Available instrumentation includes:
Flute (doubling Piccolo and/or Alto Flute)
Clarinet (Bb and/or A)
Piano
Violin
Cello

TME Programming: TME concerts are often comprised of classical, contemporary, and popular music to offer a variety to audiences.

Project Timeline:

  • Call for scores is issued - March 2019
  • Deadline for submissions - May 13, 2019 (11:59 PM PST)
  • Results announced, composers contacted - Late June 2019
  • Submission of score and parts by composer - September 27, 2019
  • Rehearsals - May 20-22, 2020 : 2-3 rehearsals will take place at the Canadian Music Centre (Toronto)
  • Composers are welcome to attend on May 22 (remotely, or in person)
  • Concert - Saturday, May 23, 2020, 7:30 pm
